Punjab Police Exam Pattern 2023
According to the already conducted exam of Punjab Police, the exam pattern is as follows :
- Punjab Police Constable Exam Pattern District and Armed Cadre – Written Test comprises one question paper consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The Question Paper shall comprise 100 questions carrying one (01) mark each and shall be bilingual, viz. in Punjabi and English. There is no negative marking. Duration – 120 Minutes.
- Punjab Police Constable Exam Pattern Intelligence and Investigation Cadre – Written Test contains one question paper consisting of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The Question Paper shall have 150 questions with one (01) mark each and shall be bilingual in Punjabi and English. There is no negative marking. Duration – 180 Minutes.
- Punjab Police Head Constable Exam Pattern Investigation Cadre – The Head Constable investigation cadre’s selection process consists of two Question Papers.
Paper 1 – The test is 120 minutes in duration and consists of 100 objective type questions. Each question carries four marks for a correct answer and a -1 mark for an incorrect answer.
Paper 2 – The test is 120 minutes in duration and consists of 100 objective type questions. Each question carries four marks for a correct answer and a -1 mark for an incorrect answer. Total Marks – 200*4(Each question) = 800 - Punjab Police Sub Inspector Exam Pattern District, Armed, intelligence and investigation Cadre – The Sub Inspector selection process consists of two Question Papers.

Paper 1 is compulsory for all candidates, and Paper 2 is according to domain wise.
- Punjab Police Constable Exam Pattern Technical Support Services Cadre – The Computer Based Test is conducted in 2 Tests, Phase-I (Test 1 and Test 2). Both Test 1 and Test 2 contain 100 marks, and Time Duration for Each test is 2 Hours. Negative marking of 25% of the marks for each wrong answer given. Paper 1 is same for all candidates, and Paper 2 is according to domain wise.
About Punjab Police :
Punjab Police has had an incredibly proud history and the legend of keeping duty before self. Even before Independence, Punjab Police had a name for effective policing. This has been continuously improving through the personal examples of its leadership supported by great traditions, discipline, and a highly professional attitude. The emergence of the Punjab Police as a separate organization is a post 1861 development that took place after the British annexation of Punjab in 1849. In about 150 years of its existence, the police force in the state has faced many difficult phases. The onus of handling law and order has always been a challenge before the police, mainly because of the inherent martial traditions prevailing in the state. The reorganization process in police dates back to 1898 when the practice of appointing army officers to the post of Inspector General was discontinued. However, a sincere effort was made in 1902 by the British, in the form of the Indian Police Commission, to identify the shortcomings in the police system. It was, thus, recommended that the police strength in the state may be enhanced. Setting up the Police Training School at Phillaur in 1891 and later the introduction of the fingerprint section have been among the achievements of the Punjab Police. During the late fifties, it was felt that further reforms were required in Punjab Police. A commission, headed by an ex-Chief Justice of India, was appointed in 1961 and submitted its report in May 1962. Screening of the police force, setting up a Scientific Laboratory for crime clue examination and research center under the Director, a Forensic Science Laboratory, and better human resource development schemes were among the commission’s recommendations. It’s a force with a difference! A force with a conviction! And a force with a heart!
